Ann Coulter Controversy Spurs New Topic?
FAYETTEVILLE, GA: So I have never really paid attention to Ann Coulter- UNTIL NOW. She has crossed the line and I hope she reaps consequences.
Coulter called John Edwards a “faggot.” I wish that these newspapers would REFUSE to print her articles. I know the Fayette Citizen prints her articles. What happened to Isaiah Washington when he used the word? He got fired. And heck, he just denied using the term… Ann freaking said that Edwards was one.
Here is an exact quote from her from Good Morning America.
“Oh yeah, I wouldn’t insult gays by comparing them to John Edwards. That would be mean. But about the same time — you know — Bill Maher was not joking and saying he wished Dick Cheney had been killed in a terrorist attack. So I’ve learned my lesson. If I’m going to say anything about John Edwards in the future, I’ll just wish he had been killed in a terrorist assassination plot.�
I didn’t hear about the Bill Maher story- but still he should not be allowed to say that. I think this is incredibly insensitive and making jokes about terrorist attacks should not be tolerated.
She really pisses me off. However, good news comes from this story. John Edwards’ wife fought back and raised almost 9 million dollars for the Edwards 08 campaign.
So how does this relate to Public Forum. The Public Forum resolutions have been lacking recently and its quite noticeable with the NFL having to change the resolution before Nationals. A excellent resolution that is not only current but an important issue would be: The Federal Communications Commission should have harsher punishments for slander and/or libel used in Radio and/or Television broadcast
