Whitewater: Winfield Scott Coaching Awards

FAYETTEVILLE, GA: The most important aspect of the Winfield Scott Debate Tournament is the three coaching awards that are given during the awards ceremony.

The Richard Bracknell Award for Outstanding Service went to Lee Robinson from Lincoln County HS. This award goes to coaches that have distinguished themselves in their undying commitment to their teams. The merits of the coach’s program, the years of service provided to the program, and service to the surrounding forensic community are the three criteria used to determine the award recipient.

The Mario Hererra Key for Outstanding Coaching went to Beverly Kelly from Fayette County HS. This award goes to coaches that have distinguished themselves in the area of forensic competition. The strength, depth, and size of the coach’s program will de the determining factors in the awarding of the Mario Hererra Key. Recipients will be coaches who constantly push the boundaries of forensic competition and high school competitive performance.

The Winfield Scott Star for Dedicated Service went to Tom Swaffer from Fayette County HS.  This is awarded to those outside of the coaching community that have provided support for debate programs. Community leaders, parents, and school staff and administration are all eligible to receive this great honor.

Congratulations Tom, Lee and Beverly for achieving these great honors- all three of you are amazing coaches and deserve the absolute best! Congratulations!
