The Key Coach/Opening Assembly
The Key Coach Assembly ended a little while ago and between the war room and here, we have four new Key Coaches.
Tariqu Shakur opened the assembly by calling all in the community to respond to “a dearth of leadership in the world” by advancing the leadership that forensics advances. He later recieved the Paul Slappey Award for Diversity in Forensics for his work for in the Atlanta community, and his support of the Urban Debate League.
The theme of education is very large in the BFHS, and is theme that was very important last night at the annual Barkley Forum dinner as well. Melissa Wade, Director of the Barkley Forum, said, “On Sunday night, we will have a huge celebration of the activity.” The coaches follow.
Wade also announced that the prose and poetry exhibition is now the Jane Eldridge exhibition.
There was also an introduction of the new Key Coaches. Admission to this prestigious society is a reflection of the work and dedication that each coach have exhibited over the years.
The new coaches are: Tracy McFarland and Jim Wakefield, posthumously to Michael Bacon of Newburgh Free Academy, in honor of his work. Sheryl Kaczmarek accepted. The final Key was presented to Allan Louden of Wake Forest for his contributions to the high school community.
