Countdown to the TOC: Six Days
Today begins our official TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS Coverage. Today begins the week countdown to the TOC. Six days until the Tournament begins!
Today’s special feature is showing hhow patterns can affect your predictions on who will win the TOC?
Since 1998, there’s been a pattern of Champions for the TOC. It’s a three year cycle – of Public, Private, Private winning the TOC. This means we are in line for a private school champion. Will 2008 continue the pattern? Or will a public school come out on top?
Looking at initials, I’ve found a pattern from 2003 to 2008. In year 1, AB wins, and in year 2, AB is runner up. Year 3, AW is the runner up, and year 4 AW is the winner. This means 2007 was year 5 in which FS was the winner. This puts us in line for an FS to be the runner up. To my knowledge, there are no FS competing this year at the TOC – which means the pattern will be broken (sadly).
Since 1998 [with two exceptions], the runner up has been from the opposite type of school. For example, in 2007 the Champion was a public school whereas the Runner Up was a Private school.
Since 2004, the top speaker has alternated public/private school distinctions. Therefore we are in line for a Public school speaker to be the Top Speaker this year.
