American Airlines Loses Debaters Everywhere, Starts Charging for First Checked Bag

As reported by Victory Briefs Daily (via Jane Boyd), American Airlines is now charging $15 for the first bag you check, while continuing to charge $25 for the second and $100 for each afterwards. This won’t affect most Georgians though, as both AirTran and Delta are major hubs in the Atlanta region, and are in better financial shape.

This is not a positive move for the airline industry, though. One would think that airlines would get the hint that we’re tired of being treated like cattle with highly expendable income. I think American might be next on the consolidation/bankruptcy list due to their lack of innovation/budgeting.
