Announcing the 2008 Fayette Classic
I just sent an email hopefully to all your coaches with information concerning the 2008 Fayette Classic. More information is after the cut
Dear Colleague:
We would like to invite you to attend the 15th annual Fayette Classic held at Fayette County High School on November 14-15, 2008. Fayette County is located in the historic Fayetteville, GA 30 minutes south of the Hartsfield-Jackson International airport. Our unique tournament is a one-day tournament with a two-day option which should provide an amazing asset to middle of your first semester schedule!
We are both a teaching tournament for coaches and debaters AND a competition tournament for the experienced debaters. Something for everyone! Last year, we had over twenty five schools from three states register. If you are from an out of state school, we will offer limited Student housing to try and cut your expenses (more details will be on Joy of Tournaments).
Bring your brand new policy debate kids - they can participate in the Fayette Classic Novice Workshop by watching some of the best in Georgia (to be announced shortly) debating with the Novice Packet. They can then take the skills they learn from the best into the tournament on Saturday! We will even provide evidence for them if they don’t have it! This workshop is absolutely free for debaters who register to debate on Saturday.
For teams who opt to bring their varsity/junior varsity policy students for debate on Friday evening, we will also be hosting two sessions of Congress for IE, LD and PF debaters during varsity policy and JV policy rounds. For novice policy debaters who plan to be here on Friday, we have the special Fayette Classic Novice Workshop as mentioned above!!!
We offer many areas of competition including three levels of Policy Debate [Novice, JV and Varsity]. Varsity and JV rounds will be held on Friday and Saturday. The divisions will be collapsed if there are less than 10 entries in either. Novice policy competition will be held on Saturday only, along with an open division of Lincoln Douglas and open division of Public Forum and a variety of Individual Events. We offer six individual events: Duo Interpretation, Dramatic Interpretation, Humorous Interpretation, Original Oratory, Extemporaneous Speaking, and Impromptu. All Novice Policy, LD, PF, IE rounds will only take place on Saturday.
I hope to see all of here in November. We will have our information on Joy of Tournaments in August.
