Anticipating the Novice Packet (no, we don’t have it yet)

As coaches and debaters await the Novice Packet being released for the State, we can take time and look at what other states are using in their Novice Packets.  Check out the four we’ve found below.  What do you think will make up the GFCA Novice Packet?  What do you want not to be in it?

1. permanently renewing the Production Tax Credit for wind energy.
2. requiring that twenty percent of the electricity produced in the United States come from renewable energy resources by the year 2020.
3. mandating that all new automobiles sold in the United States be flexible-fueled, capable of using mixtures of methanol, ethanol, and gasoline.

1. Renewable Portfolio Standards: Require a Renewable Portfolio Standard of at least 20% by the year 2020.
2. Nuclear Power: Increase incentives for Integral Fast Reactors.
3. Cap and Trade: Establish an upstream auctioned system of tradable carbon permits.
4. Biofuels: Increase incentives for domestic biofuels.

    *Growls at school email system*

Laura, I saw back in April that you had joined NFL and sent you a "welcome, and feel free to drop me a line if you have any questions" email that afternoon. Unfortunately, it looks as though you never received it. . . or if you did and if I'm one of the people whom you've been emailing, I haven't received any of your emails back (also quite likely given the whole reliability issue).

At any rate, I'm going to try again. . . if you don't have an email from me by 4:30 on Thursday afternoon, please let me know (at which point I'll give up on trying to send anything from my school address and will switch gears to my AOL one). I'll also make sure that you're on the email list to get all info from the GFCA.

I am trying every way I can think of to get necessary information :). I am coaching a brand new program at Jackson High School. We joined NFL in February and were placed in the Georgia Southern Peach district, and despite numerous pleas have yet to receive any sort of information regarding novice tournaments, coaches meetings, etc. I am anxious to get involved and get my kids some experience, in both debate and IEs. Anything you can provide would be so appreciated. I noticed a calendar posted, but don't see information about registration info, etc. Thanks so much!!!
  • great range of literature areas! Looks like one of the best packets to date.

    Any one else have thoughts?
