Anticipating the Novice Packet (no, we don’t have it yet)
As coaches and debaters await the Novice Packet being released for the State, we can take time and look at what other states are using in their Novice Packets. Check out the four we’ve found below. What do you think will make up the GFCA Novice Packet? What do you want not to be in it?
- Wisconsin released potential topics today:
1. permanently renewing the Production Tax Credit for wind energy.
2. requiring that twenty percent of the electricity produced in the United States come from renewable energy resources by the year 2020.
3. mandating that all new automobiles sold in the United States be flexible-fueled, capable of using mixtures of methanol, ethanol, and gasoline.
- Minnesota discussed the following topics at their meeting in August:
1. Renewable Portfolio Standards: Require a Renewable Portfolio Standard of at least 20% by the year 2020.
2. Nuclear Power: Increase incentives for Integral Fast Reactors.
3. Cap and Trade: Establish an upstream auctioned system of tradable carbon permits.
4. Biofuels: Increase incentives for domestic biofuels.
- North Dakota released their novice limits earlier this month.
