Emory to Award Top Speaker at Woodward
I saw this in the Cross-X forums and wanted to let the GFD Community know about the exciting things Emory has for the Woodward Tournament.
The Barkley Forum, the Emory University Debate team, is proud to announce that the top speaker in the Novice Division of Woodward will be receiving a scholarship to the Emory Sophomore National Debate Institute.
The top speaker will recieve a $1000 award to be deducted from the final price of the camp.
The Four – Week second year High School debate camp will take place on Emory’s campus this summer June 27th and follow through the next 4 weeks.
The staff includes myself [Debate coach at Emory, formerly the director at Chattahooche High School], Ed Lee [the director of Emory debate], and several other members of our coaching staff and nationally competitive debaters.
We’ve already heard from students at Westminster, Chattahoochee, Alpharetta, Glenbrook North, Kinkaid School, Carrollton Sacred Heart, and numerous others. We’d love to add you to the list – but our numbers mean only 48 candidates will be accepted.
For more information go to emory.edu/bf and look for the links to the summer institutes. [if four weeks seems like too much, we have a 2 week camp as well for everyone]
Good luck at the JV & Novice National Championship everyone,
Yours,
James H. Herndon
