Wake Forest: Georgia Wrap Up
Georgia fared very well in the first national tournament of the season at Wake Forest University.
In Varsity Policy, teams from Alpharetta, Chattahoochee, Fayette County, Marist School, and Stratford Academy reached elimination rounds. Three Chattahoochee teams received qualifying legs to the 2010 Tournament of Champions.
In Junior Varsity Policy, teams from Alpharetta, Johns Creek, Marist School, and Westminster reached elimination rounds. The team of Rueben Lack and Neil Chaudhry went undefeated through all the rounds becoming the JV Champions.
In Junior Varsity Lincoln Douglas, Starr’s Mill had two teams reach elimination rounds including the top seed. Hannah Matia made it all the way to the Final Round where she lost to a tough opponent.
In Duo Interpretation, Alpharetta had two teams place in top five – Joey Newfield & Adam DeBruler and Luke Tieslau & Parker Rehklau. These teams received a qualifying leg to the National Individual Events Tournament of Champions.
Overall, Alpharetta placed 2nd in the Overall Sweepstakes and Marist placed 8th. Alpharetta is coached by Amy Waldman and Adam Smiley.
In Dramatic Interpretation, Alpharetta’s Kelsey South placed 4th overall. Based on the performance, Kelsey received a qualifying leg to the National Individual Events Tournament of Champions.
In Humorous Interpretation, Alpharetta’s Joey Newfield placed 5th overall. Based on his performance, Joey received a qualifying leg to the National Individual Events Tournament of Champions.
