Statistics Regarding Georgia Policy Debate
I’ve been doing some statistical research on Georgia Policy Debate.
Here’s what I’ve found – prior to Hooch
- 2008-2009 (Only including Westminster, Mcintosh, Warner Robins) – 33 schools, 353 students
- 2009-2010 (Only including Westminster, Lakeview, Warner Robins) – 29 schools, 293 students
Post-Sequoyah (5 tournaments into the season):
2008-2009 {all year} – 699 students participated
2009-2010 {so far} – 460 students participated
Schools that have increased participation already:
- Griffin (67%)
- Alpharetta (43%)
- Woodward (40%)
- Pace (25%)
- Columbus (20%)
- Grady (10%)
- Westminster Schools (5%)
New Schools in Policy (comparing to last year)
- Johns Creek
- Lee County
- Spencer
Schools Lost in Policy (comparing to last year)
- Bainbridge
- Banneker
- Chamblee
- Fayette County – registered for SMHS in policy
- Gwinnett School

- Northside, WR
- Osborne – registered for SMHS in policy
- Rabun County
- Riverwood
- Sandy Creek
- Stephenson – active in UDL to my knowledge

Note: Some of these schools will travel later in the season, but its still causing some reason to be concerned.
Some Percentages By “Genre”
- 43% of students participation is coming from “North Fulton”
- 16% of students participation is coming from Private Schools
- This leaves 41% for the rest of GA.
- 80% of students participation is coming from “NFL Northern District” – above I-20
- 20% of students participation is coming from “NFL Southern District” – below I-20
